The TINA Turkey Underwater Archaeology Foundation organised the International Mustafa V. Koç Underwater Archaeology Symposium on 18–19 June to honour the memory of the foundation’s honorary member, Mustafa V. Koç.

The exhibition “Building community. Göbeklitepe, Taş Tepeler, and life 12,000 years ago” prepared in collaboration between the Turkish Ministry of Culture and Tourism and the Berlin State Museums, opens its doors to the place where human history began, on February 10, 2026, in Berlin.

During the excavations led by the Mardin Museum, a 1500-year-old drinking water system from the Roman period was unearthed in the agora, along with nearly 20 shops and workshops. This year, in the excavations, a mosaic area dating back approximately 1500 years, featuring drop and wave figures, was discovered in structures considered to have been used as residences, right next to the shops and workshops.

The three-stage restoration of the 1600-year-old Mor Kiryakus (Kuryakos) Monastery (Dera Qira) in the Beşiri district of Batman has been completed. According to the news of AA, Provincial Director of Culture and Tourism, Ihsan Aslanlı stated that after restoration the church will be opened to tourism as both worship and monument museum.

A team from the French National Center for Scientific Research recently lifted 22 massive stone blocks of the Lighthouse of Alexandria from the seafloor. The remains of the Wonder of the World were first discovered in Egypt 30 years before.
